'Amazed' - Jason Cundy slams Everton live on air as 'Groundhog Day' mooted again

Jason Cundy has blasted Everton after their defeat by Southampton on Saturday, claiming each year is “Groundhog Day” for them.

The Saints took all three points at St Mary’s in a 1-0 victory on 2 November, their first of the Premier League season.

Cundy admitted he is “amazed” by what he continues to see from Sean Dyche’s team.

“I’m amazed when I see this team, it seems to be the same thing – it’s like Groundhog Day,” he said live on talkSPORT [2 November, 18:45].

“Everton just seem the same every season.”

Everton suffer Southampton setback

Everton looked in healthier climes when heading down to the South Coast for the Southampton clash, and ended up emerging empty-handed.

Controversy was not far away either, with Beto denied a second crucial late equaliser in as many games by a lengthy VAR check.

Dyche has to pick his players up over the next week to take on West Ham United at the London Stadium [9 November], who are in disarray after their hammering by Nottingham Forest at the same time.

The Toffees sit two points and two places behind the Hammers, whose fans are becoming increasingly frustrated by Julen Lopetegui’s sluggish start after the club spent a huge amount in the summer.

Everton will reel from the defeat having now been stunned twice by the Saints this season, after an elimination from the Carabao Cup at Goodison Park back on 17 September.

Dyche needs to get back to winning ways immediately
