John Textor wanted to move Botafogo striker Igor Jesus to Everton if he completed a takeover deal at Goodison Park, according to Alan Nixon.
The journalist reported via his Patreon [3 November] that West Ham are now interested in signing the 23-year-old in a “surprise” £30million deal, which could also see Lucas Paqueta move the other way.
Crystal Palace co-owner Textor was in the race to purchase Farhad Moshiri’s controlling stake over the Toffees until an agreement was reached with Dan Friedkin earlier this season.
Everton miss out on another striker as Igor Jesus update emerges
Textor’s potential takeover would have certainly given the Toffees multiple different clubs to steal players from, currently owning Palace, Botafogo, RWD Molenbeek in Belgium and Lyon.
However, Friedkin’s links to AS Roma promise a similar deal for the Merseyside club, with the likes of Tammy Abraham already linked with a move to Goodison Park [Gazzetta dello Sport].
The American businessman also looks to be bringing much more considerable funds with him to the blue side of Merseyside, which is an extremely exciting prospect.
A new striker looks to be one of the most important next purchases for Sean Dyche, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin slowing down after a bright start to the season and Beto just not good enough.
The Toffees were heavily linked with Vitor Roque, who is now on loan at Real Betis from Barcelona, but a move never materialised, instead signing an injured Armando Broja on a temporary deal.
Jesus, on the other hand, has scored eight goals in 22 appearances since moving to the Brazilian first division. But if Dyche wants more youth in his team, he should look to the academy at Finch Farm.
Omari Benjamin, for example, looks to be an exciting talent, though he is still yet to be unleashed by the first-team manager. A new face certainly needs to come in and impress up front.
In other Everton news, Micah Richards and Joe Hart agreed over a controversial moment v Southampton.
