Andy Walker believes the gap between Rangers and Celtic has not been as big as it is now for a long time.
The Light Blues released their latest financial report on 16 October and revealed that they had £1.7million in the bank as of 30 June. The Hoops’ report, meanwhile, came out on 16 September, with the club holding £77.2million in year-end cash.
Pointing out the numbers on the Go Radio Football Show [13 November], Walker highlighted the dire situation the Ibrox outfit are in.
“The gap has never been as big for a long time”, Walker said on the Go Radio Football Show [13 November].
“You read the financial results for Celtic, for Rangers, you just make a very quick comparison, Rangers have got between £1-2million in the bank. Celtic have got £77million in the bank.
“I think for a long time Celtic fans thought Celtic are just going to spend enough to keep ahead of Rangers, but I think this summer was different and it had to be because of the manager.”

If the financial gap was not enough, Rangers have also fallen nine points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Philippe Clement’s side face an uphill task to close the gap with the Hoops and are better off focusing on cup competitions this season.
The Gers will have the chance to get one over on their bitter rivals when they lock horns with each other in the League Cup final at Hampden on 15 December.
That, though, will not be enough to make up for the poor situation Rangers are in at the moment.
The club lack stability behind the scenes after John Bennett and James Bisgrove left their roles as chairman and CEO respectively.
Both roles remain vacant, but the Light Blues are hoping to have a replacement for Bennett in place before their annual general meeting on 5 December [Chris Jack].
John Gilligan has been serving as the club’s interim chairman after Bennett’s departure.
In other Rangers news, the club’s stance over handing a contract extension to this five-goal star has emerged.
