Ange Postecoglou warned four Tottenham players may never play for him again

Ange Postecoglou has been warned by Alan Pardew that Tottenham players could soon turn against him and his way of doing things.

Spurs were on the wrong end of a 6-3 defeat against Liverpool on Sunday (22 December) in a game that further backed up the issues surrounding the manager’s constant way of playing football.

The Australian’s insistence on playing in the same way every week has led to criticism, especially with experienced defenders Micky Van de Ven and Cristian Romero unavailable for selection through injury.

Speaking on the Final Word on talkSPORT [22 December], Pardew expressed sympathy for the defensive line-up of Pedro Porro, Radu Dragusin, Archie Gray and Djed Spence.

He said: “I felt sorry [for them]. If I was in the back four of Spurs today I’d have gone in the dressing room, I’d have sat down and I’d say to the manager ‘I’m telling you, I’m never going to play in your team like that again’. That’s what I would’ve said to him.”

Ange Postecoglou needs to adapt with Tottenham at times

Postecoglou is clearly a capable manager and at times throughout this season, he has been able to get his side playing some good football in a way that makes him happy. In turn, this has led to some very good results.

However, it is also clear that his lack of adaptability is also costing his side in games and leaving supporters wondering which version of the side will turn up in each game while they sit 11th in the table.

With injuries in the side leaving the Lilywhites with an inexperienced defensive line-up currently, it is even more staggering that the Australian is not showing any signs of change in his team as his young players are left vulnerable to be exposed at the back.

Both the manager and players have to take responsibility when things are not going to plan at a football club.

However, if the boss continues with his stubbornness that clearly doesn’t help his side out, then Pardew may be right and the players may soon be lost with the cause.

In other Tottenham news, a prominent journalist has taken aim at Daniel Levy after what Postecoglou’s said.
