Rangers attacker Scott Wright is set to join Birmingham City for what’s likely to be a “modest” transfer fee, according to Football Scotland.

The news outlet reported on 28 August that the 27-year-old has travelled south for a medical and will soon join the English club permanently.

Wright almost moved to Turkish side Pendikspor last summer but ended up staying at Ibrox for another season.

Wright, despite moments of promise, has not consistently met the expectations required for a player in Gers’ first team, particularly in a squad aiming to challenge for major honours.

This move not only trims the wage bill, which is crucial to be financially stable, but also signals a shift towards a more dynamic, perhaps younger, or tactically fitting squad.
