Arsenal fans have been left raging at Man City star John Stones after he labelled Mikel Arteta’s side “dirty” following their draw at the Etihad.
The Gunners fought hard to secure a 2-2 draw after goals from Erling Haaland, Riccardo Calafiori, Gabriel Magalhaes, and a 98th-minute winner from John Stones.
In their fight to take points from the game, the Arsenal players were wasting time, going down with injuries, and breaking up play to hold on to what they had.
Following the game, Stones spoke to Sky Sports as he shared: “I don’t know if they have mastered it [the ‘dark arts’ of football], they’ve done it for a few years, and we know to expect that.
“You can call it clever, or dirty, whichever way you want to put it. “They break up the game, and obviously it upsets the rhythm for everyone.
“They use it for their advantage, and I thought we dealt with it really well.”
Stones’ comments were a clear dig at City’s opponents, and his use of the word “dirty” has been heavily criticised by the travelling supporters.
City were renowned for their use of the dark arts for years, and Pep Guardiola’s side have become synonymous with winning by any means necessary if they cannot blow their opponents away.
As a result, Arsenal fans have been left fuming at the defender’s comments following their clash.

It took a valiant effort from Guardiola’s side to get a goal back after Arsenal’s staunch defending in the second half, and Stones’ interview held a hint of the frustration they felt.
Given City’s reputation, and the 115 charges currently hanging over their head for multiple rule breaches, fans have pointed out the irony of Stones’ dig.
Taking to social media following the interview, Arsenal fans have hit out at the centre-back after the “audacity” and “irony” of his claims.
