Arsenal have been joined by Serie A giants Inter Milan, AC Milan and Juventus in the race for Lille star Jonathan David, sources have told Football Insider.
Sources say there will be “huge clamour” for the 24-year-old in the January window after his red-hot form this term.
David is set to become a free agent next summer and can sign a pre-contract agreement with overseas clubs in the winter window.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (30 September) that Newcastle United are strong admirers of the Lille forward.
Interest from three European giants in Italy is another blow for Arsenal, who are keen to add the Canada international to their strike force.
Man United and Tottenham have also been admirers in recent windows – but Spurs are unlikely to move for another striker after the big-money arrival of Dominic Solanke.
Arsenal dealt blow as Italian giants join David race
Arsenal were keen to improve their attacking options in the summer but did not find the right player, instead sticking by Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz to provide their central goal threat.
Bukayo Saka (20 in all competitions) was the club’s top scorer last term as the Gunners finished second in the Premier League.
David has already hit seven goals and contributed two assists in 11 appearances for Lille this term.
He has notched 91 goals in 194 games for the French club and is the joint-highest scorer in history for Canada’s senior side.
In other news, Arsenal plan to sign Martin Odegaard alternative in January, says transfer expert.
