Aston Villa Exclusive: Big Tammy Abraham update tonight

Aston Villa are considering bringing Tammy Abraham back to the club this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

A senior source has revealed that a move for the 26-year-old Roma star “ticks a lot of boxes” for the Midlands giants, with a deal an appealing prospect for both Villa and the striker.

Italian side Roma are open to letting the striker move on, but Aston Villa are keen to “do their homework” on Abraham and compile an extensive dossier after his 10-month knee injury layoff.

The England international only returned fleetingly to the Roma side at the end of the 2023-24 campaign, and Villa want to ensure he is capable of hitting the ground running if he is to join.

Abraham made his comeback in April and made 12 total appearances, starting in just two of those outings and scoring once.

The forward left Chelsea for Roma in 2021 and helped the Italian outfit win the Uefa Conference League in his first season at the club – scoring 27 goals across all competitions in the 2021-22 campaign.

However, he has scored just eight goals since and missed 10 months with a serious knee injury.

Abraham, who is under contract at Stadio Olimpico until June 2026, helped Villa to promotion during a loan spell in the 2018-19 campaign.

The ex-Chelsea star has made 89 Premier League appearances in total, scoring 26 goals.

Villa’s interest in Abraham comes with Chelsea poised to sign Colombian youngster Jhon Duran.

Football Insider revealed on 16 June that the London club are in advanced talks to sign Duran for around £40million.
