Celtic to miss out on Peter Jensen deal after Premier League twist - expert

Celtic could be beaten to a deal to sign Sparta Prague goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen if English clubs join the race.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Celtic icon Frank McAvennie claimed the goalkeeper would prefer to move to England rather than Parkhead if an offer arrived.

However, in the absence of any interest from the Premier League as things stand, Celtic have been backed to complete a £5million deal, with the possibility of selling him on for a huge profit.

McAvennie speculated that the goalkeeper could be worth £25million in a few years’ time after developing at Celtic, which will be the aim for the club.

Jensen, 26, stands at six feet and four inches tall and has attracted interest from Brendan Rodgers’ side in their search to replace Joe Hart.

Last season, Jensen kept 15 clean sheets in 47 games across all competitions as he helped Sparta Prague to win the league and the Czech Cup while reaching the Europa League round of 16.

McAvennie insisted he could develop his game under Rodgers at Parkhead and would be a good addition after picking up trophy-winning experience.

“Dubravka has played many times for Newcastle, so he can handle the pressure,” he told Football Insider.

“Can this boy handle it? I don’t know.

“And the problem is, would he come to Celtic? If other offers come in, he’s going to go to England.

“If there aren’t any offers from England and we can get him for £4million or £5million, maybe we could sell him for £25million. That’s what Celtic are looking for.
