Despite being relegated from La Liga last season, Almeria are under no pressure to sell their highest value players. They’ve already knocked back offers for Cesar Montes and Luis Suarez, while also slapping expensive asking prices on the likes of Sergio Arribas and Marc Pubill. For the latter, it still may not be enough to keep him at the Power Horse Stadium.
Pubill, who’s currently with Spain at the 2024 Olympics, has been attracting strong interest from numerous clubs across Europe. Roma have been moving into position to make an effort, but they could now be usurped by Serie A rivals Atalanta.
As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the reigning European League champions have opened talks with Almeria over a deal for Pubill. The 21-year-old defender’s asking price has been set at €20m, with a 15% sell-on clause also wanted by Almeria.

Pubill is very highly-regarded across Spanish football, and he’s seen as an obvious successor to Dani Carvajal in the senior Spain side. €20m is steep for a Segunda player, although it could be a bargain in the long run – if Atalanta do indeed decide to match Almeria’s valuation.
