Barry Ferguson speculates timeline of when Rangers will announce new CEO & new chairman

Barry Ferguson believes John Gilligan will hire a new CEO and chairman at Rangers in the coming weeks after undergoing a clear recruitment process.

The interim chairman is currently looking to rebuild the Ibrox hierarchy after being dealt yet another blow with Creag Robertson the latest high-profile exit from the club.

Ferguson knows that the Light Blues need to sort themselves out at a board level with Gilligan handed a tough task but one he has to do properly.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show (7 October) the ex-midfielder said: “Listen, I just think it’s one of those things in football. I think Rangers need to get a CEO in as soon as possible.

“I think John Gilligan has been clear he is not just going to bring anybody in, they are going to have to go through a clear process. That is what they are doing. I think in the next number of weeks you will see a CEO through the door and after that, it will be the chairman.”

With Robertson leaving Ibrox before Christmas [Daily Record] there is going to be further disruption for the Light Blues this season.

This has been the theme of the campaign both on and off the pitch but has been summed up by starting the year at Hampden Park.

The clash against Hibernian on Sunday 29 September marked a return home in the Scottish Premiership after a frustrating period away.

This issue is just the tip of the iceberg for the Gers with John Bennett departing the club to leave Gilligan in charge on an interim basis.

Problems have been bubbling under the surface since John Bisgrove departed and they have come close to the boil in the early stages of this campaign.

It appears that the interim boss has things under control and as a lifelong Rangers fan knows what the club needs at a board level.

Supporters would rather this process be positive and take longer than be rushed and stick them back into the same mess they’ve been dealing with for far too long.

In other Everton news, a Scott McKenna transfer decision has left a pundit baffled as his opinion has now been shared.
