Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich are now showing concerted interest in a young winger who Arsenal have been closely following of late.

Mikel Arteta is thought to want to add a wide-forward to his project this summer, as well as a central midfielder and a left-back.

It remains to be seen if Arsenal envisage a signing to provide better back-up for Bukayo Saka on the right, or someone to become a firm starter on the left.

Gabriel Martinelli endured a disappointing season by his standards last time out, replaced by Leandro Trossard towards the end of the season.

But after Trossard’s difficult time at Euro 2024, Martinelli looks primed to win-back his role, perhaps buoyed by his time at Copa America with Brazil.

That being said, there’s still an opportunity to be had on the left, it’s not nailed down in a similar fashion to Saka’s claim on the right.

And in a summer in which Arsenal could sell Reiss Nelson, it makes a lot of sense to add a new profile.

Bayern Munich could make move for Arsenal target Desire Doue in coming weeks

TBR recently shared that Arsenal had been closely monitoring 19-year-old Desire Doue’s progress at Stade Rennais – considering a move for the youngster.

£35m-rated Doue enjoyed an excellent season for Rennes in Ligue 1 and looks ready to make the next step.

But unfortunately for Arsenal, it seems as if Bayern Munich have also taken notice.

And according to Florian Plettenberg, who shared his update on X, Bayern are now seriously interested in Doue.

The journalist shared: “News Desire Doue… the 19-year-old top talent is on the list of FC Bayern!

“Contract with Stade Rennes valid until 2026. Rennes, aware of the interest from Bayern!

“Doue, a winger, could become a serious transfer target later in this transfer window if Bayern generates more sales or in 2025.

“One to watch for Bayern now but many top clubs are keen on him.”

Therefore, if Arsenal are serious about their interest, then they will need to get moving swiftly.

Arsenal’s decision to buy William Saliba, who impressed at a similar age in France, certainly hasn’t backfired – as demonstrated by his performance at Euro 2024 on Tuesday.

And it seems as if Arteta’s project is now at the point when it can effectively integrate players like Doue, ready to afford chances to exciting youngsters.

That being said, Arsenal are also attempting to sign another Frenchman from Barcelona.
