'He's got no business doing this': BBC pundit says he really likes everything about £25m Tottenham player

Ashley Williams has suggested that he likes everything about one Tottenham Hotspur youngster, insisting that he actually does things that he has no business doing.

Tottenham showed some real promise under Ange Postecoglou, with a number of exciting players displaying some real potential, while others clearly look poised to have amazing careers.

One of those Tottenham fans did not see a great deal of last season was Radu Dragusin, with the Romanian signing for £25 million during the January transfer window. His game-time was limited due to the impressive partnership between Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven.

Some were surprised to not see Dragusin feature more, but Spurs supporters have had a great opportunity to watch the 22-year-old this summer, with Romania making it out of their group at Euro 2024 – and he has definitely won a lot of admirers in Germany.

Speaking on BBC One (broadcast on 2/7; 16:41), Ashley Williams suggested that he is such a big fan of the centre-back as he praised his performances at the tournament so far.

“Yeah, really impressed with him, he’s had a strong tournament so far, proper defender. I like everything about his game, I think he sets the tone for this Romanian team. You see this, this is a great clip, this first one, bang, solid. There’s no messing about with this boy at all, and I think they all take the lead, especially the backline, they defend really well,” he said.

“This is a great clip just to show the way he drives the team forward, as a centre-back he’s got no business doing this, but it just shows his energy levels, the way he wants to get his team forward. And when you’ve been defending for a long time, for sometime to drive up the pitch and win a free-kick like that’s just a nice relief.”

January signing deserves huge credit for sparking debate ahead of next season

It is going to be fascinating to see how Postecoglou handles his three front-line centre-backs at the start of next season, as Dragusin is staking a really strong claim to start a lot more.

Tottenham are back in Europe after qualifying for the Europa League, so there is going to be plenty of game-time for the trio, but some will be interested to see which pairing emerges as his first-choice partnership.

Van de Ven and Dragusin have so much potential, while Romero has won the Copa America and the World Cup, so he is one of the superstars of the side.

It says everything about how impressive Dragusin has been that there is now a debate over which two will start for Tottenham next season.
