BBC journo shares what new signing told him after completing Everton deal

Everton newbie Jesper Lindstrom has admitted to BBC journalist Shamoon Hafez that he struggled with Napoli last season and is hoping to revive his career at Goodison Park.

Lindstrom officially arrived at Everton on 26 July and has reportedly pre-agreed a permanent move from Napoli once the loan comes to an end next summer (Fabrizio Romano, 26 July).

Hafez shared via his personal X account on Monday (5 August) what the winger told him when he asked about his expectations now the deal has gone through.

“Spoke to Jesper Lindstrom who said he wants to “show the world” his level after a difficult year at Napoli and joining Everton was an “easy choice”,” Hafez posted.

Everton signing Jesper Lindstrom gets honest

As a footballer, you know better than anyone when things aren’t going your way. For Lindstrom, he made his way to Italy with great hope and expectation. It came following a successful stint with German club Eintracht Frankfurt.

Unfortunately, things didn’t go to plan. He made 22 Serie A appearances last season, and the winger failed to register a single goal or assist. However, it certainly seems as if he’s heading in the right direction based on pre-season.

In his first appearance for the Toffees against Preston, he scored a fantastic free-kick en-route to a 3-0 win. It capped off a performance that gives cause for great optimism.

The 24-year-old knows that he has the chance to revitalise his career at Goodison Park. While it may not happen overnight, the fact that he already looks so comfortable proves that he could be a real focal point for Sean Dyche.

Judging by Lindstrom’s latest comments, he is clearly very hungry to prove his doubters wrong and there is no reason why he cannot do exactly that at Goodison Park.

In other Everton news, a Sean Dyche transfer priority has been shared.
