BBC commentator Alasdair Lamont was blown away by Tom Lawrence’s “beautiful” finish during the Dundee United versus Rangers game.

The Gers finally managed to drag themselves out of their poor run of form and managed to gain the full three points from their latest Scottish Premiership clash, winning 1-0 on Sunday (15 September).

Philippe Clement’s men now find themselves third in the table and will be looking to capitalise on this win as the season goes on.

Speaking live on BBC Sportsound (15 September, 14:00), Lamont shared his verdict on Lawrence’s tidy finish.

“A lightning start from the visitors brought them the opening goal through Tom Lawrence,” Lamont said.

“A beautiful dinked finish over the outrushing goalkeeper and Rangers [were] good value for that [win].”

Tom Lawrence could finally be exactly what Rangers need

Lawrence’s season for Rangers so far has been stellar. The former Derby County man has excelled within Clement’s squad while others around him have failed to show much.

The attacking midfielder had a solid game against Ross County, but he was surprisingly dropped during the Old Firm derby.

Indeed, Nedim Bajrami was brought in on deadline day because the Gers felt they needed a new number 10 with Tom Lawrence exiting.

However, since Lawrence’s consistent inclusion in the first-team squad, the attacking midfielder has made the role his own.

The attacker has been a key driving force in the Gers’ games thus far and, if he continues to have as much of an impact as he has had over the last month or so, there’s no reason why he can’t keep the number 10 spot as his own for the rest of the campaign.

Of course, there’s still plenty of time left to go in the season but at the moment, Lawrence seems to be on course to win the Gers’ Player of the Season award.
