Billy Gilmour reacts as Rangers player says farewell on social media

Billy Gilmour has sent a message to Ryan Jack after the midfielder penned an emotional farewell message on Instagram as he bids adieu to Ibrox.

In a poignant update shared on social media [28 June], Jack became the latest departing Rangers player to express deep gratitude for his seven-year stint with the club, thanking fans, family, teammates and coaching staff for their unwavering support throughout his journey from fan to player.

Gers youth product Gilmour, now at Brighton and Hove Albion, was quick to react via his personal Instagram account, taking to the comments section and leaving three blue heart emojis.

Jack signed for the Gers in 2017 and made 210 appearances, leaving a solid mark on the club.

Ryan Jack departs amid a chaotic summer at Rangers

Though Rangers are preparing for the new season, there seems to be plenty of uncertainty everywhere you look behind the scenes. This tumultuous summer got off to a rough start with the sudden news of the chief executive James Bisgrove’s resignation as he heads to Saudi Arabia.

Add these losses to the potential departure of James Tavernier and the exits of John Lundstram, Borna Barisic, Kemar Roofe, Ryan Jack and Jon McLaughlin, and there is most definitely an air of change at Ibrox.

Off-field roles are also in a state of change, with the head of first-team operations, Hannah Maclean, moving on after six years of running critical logistics and player relations.

Her exit piles more upheaval onto the list, not least as the club digs in against a range of challenges, which includes the inability to use Ibrox at the start of the season for first-team fixtures due to construction delays.

All of this raises serious questions about the readiness of Rangers for the coming season. The ability of the club to maintain stability both on and off the pitch is thrown into real doubt with integral people going and logistical issues yet to be resolved.

The players will soon start returning for the rigours of pre-season training, and Rangers need a fast-track resolution for these issues if they are to be better prepared for what awaits them in the Scottish Premiership.
