Bukayo Saka shares exactly what he thinks about Arsenal signing Raheem Sterling after Brighton draw

Deadline day signing Raheem Sterling wasn’t in Arsenal’s matchday squad for their 1-1 draw against Brighton & Hove Albion at home.

The England international sealed a season-long loan move to the Emirates Stadium in the dying embers of the transfer window after being left out of Chelsea’s project by Enzo Maresca.

With an international break upcoming, Arsenal fans will have to wait for a while to watch their new signing in action.

In the meantime, his international teammate Bukayo Saka has delivered his verdict on Arsenal’s deadline day signing.

Speaking after Arsenal’s 1-1 draw against Brighton, Saka described his happiness at having an experienced campaigner like Sterling in the squad.

“Great signing for us, I am really happy to have him here. I am sure he will do amazing for us,” Saka said on MOTD via BBC Sport.

The Arsenal attacker indicated that a draw against the Seagulls isn’t the worst result in the world after they went down to ten men after Declan Rice’s red card.

Saka continued: “We can take it both ways, we had chances to win the game but going down to 10 men against Brighton is difficult.”

What next for Arsenal?

Arsenal have dropped their first points of the new Premier League season and Rice’s sending off has emerged as a big talking point after the game.

Ally McCoist insisted that Rice’s red card was a bit harsh after he received his second booking for an obstruction of play in an incident involving Brighton defender Joel Veltman.

With games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City coming up after the international break, Arsenal will feel they dropped two valuable points against Brighton, especially after Rice’s controversial red card.

When can Raheem Sterling make his Arsenal debut?

As mentioned earlier, Arsenal have two important games coming up and Sterling could be in line to make his debut in the North London derby against Spurs.

As far as occasions go, it simply doesn’t get any bigger than that and the 28-year-old will look to endear himself to his new club with a telling contribution if he takes to the pitch.

If he doesn’t feature in that game, Sterling could make his Arsenal debut against Bolton in the EFL Cup, which would be a more sensible option as he’s yet to play a single minute this season.
