Armando Broja is keen to join Everton from Chelsea if he is given the opportunity before the transfer deadline, according to i News.
Mark Douglas reported via the outlet’s website on 12 August that the Albanian striker has been subject of an enquiry by the Toffees but any move will now be a loan deal due to budget concerns.
Everton securing the Stamford Bridge forward will also depend on offloading Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but there have been no approaches for the Englishman since one from Newcastle earlier this summer.
The Toffees would be “duty-bound” to consider any bids for him after he entered the final year of his contract but there is currently “precious little” interest.
Everton make enquiry at Stamford Bridge over loan signing
Broja is widely expected to be moved on before the deadline after being left to train away from the first team [Telegraph, 10 August].
A loan exit appears to be an option after Sky Sports Germany reported on 11 August that initial talks had been opened with Stuttgart.
It seems the 22-year-old would like to stay in the Premier League but if Calvert-Lewin doesn’t have offers it will make it a moot point from a Toffees perspective.
The Everton star scored in the friendly against Roma and would be expected to be the top striker in Sean Dyche’s side if he stays.
But there is a split opinion at Goodison Park over whether losing him next summer for nothing is something the club can accept [Liverpool Echo, 3 August].
Talks over a Newcastle switch failed and it appears interest from the likes of Manchester United isn’t going anywhere [Dharmesh Sheth, 12 August].
But if a sudden offer arrived before the deadline which the club were obliged to accept it would be a frustration for Everton and Broja if he had already been packed off to the Bundesliga, after being linked to the Toffees all summer.
