Nathan Patterson has demonstrated he is still a staunch Celtic rival despite leaving Rangers for Everton three seasons ago.
The defender was joined by Dwight McNeil on YouTuber Stillryan’s show and participated in a segment wearing a boxing glove. He was told to punch the Toffees fan every time a team “better” than the Scottish champions were mentioned.
The former Ibrox academy product responded by delivering seven increasingly forceful punches in reaction to seven clubs being named, including his former club on the other side of the Old Firm rivalry.
Patterson is currently looking to return to full fitness for the new season after requiring surgery [Liverpool Echo, 19 April] on an injury suffered at Chelsea last term, missing Euro 2024 with Scotland during the summer.
Everton defender demonstrates Rangers allegiance
The right-back endured something of a nightmare campaign last term which his injury capped off miserably.
His form saw him drop to fourth choice under Sean Dyche as aging veterans Seamus Coleman and Ashley Young, as well as former centre-back Ben Godfrey, were all preferred.
And he was involved in an awkward exchange with his manager during the club’s Portuguese training camp, where Dyche had to apologise for giving him a playful slap round the head which was misinterpreted and James Tarkowski had to step in [Daily Mail, 15 March].
But he appears to have bulked up over the summer [Mirror, 19 July] in a sign that he is gearing up to show renewed fight in attempting to convince Dyche to give him his place back.
The Scotland international has still only made 48 appearances in total for the club since his move from Ibrox two and a half years ago in a deal worth up to £16million [Sky Sports].
With further signings only expected to be loanees it would certainly help the manager if 22-year-old could bounce back from injury and make the starting spot his own.
In other Everton news, an international striker now wants to join the Toffees amid an exit update on a Goodison star.
