The Friedkin Group and Everton have no “appetite” to sack Sean Dyche ahead of the clash with West Ham United, according to Chris Beesley.
The Toffees make the trip to the London Stadium on Saturday (9 November) as they look to get back to winning ways in the Premier League in what is their final game before the international break.
While fans and pundits have been quick to suggest time is running out for Dyche at Goodison Park, Liverpool Echo journalist Beesley insists sacking the Blues boss remains an emergency measure.
Speaking on the Royal Blue YouTube channel (6 November, 12:20) he said: “In terms of any change at the moment, you’re in a position where the Friedkin Group are poised, but they’re not there in place.
“So I don’t see at this moment in time how you can actually do anything. In theory, of course, you could do if Everton were rock bottom of the Premier League and disappearing without a trace, you might have to take emergency measures.
“But as we know, there’s no sort of appetite at the moment to make a change if it can be avoided.”
Will Sean Dyche exit Everton amid Goodison Park sack speculation?
While it is only natural that supporters will be beginning to grow tired of Dyche’s defensive first style of play, particularly after the defeat to Southampton, it would be a bold call to make a change in the dugout at this stage of the season.
The Friedkin Group are edging closer to becoming the Toffees’ new owners and while that is a positive thing, they will not want to make any major footballing changes until they definitely have the keys to Goodison Park.
Everton haven’t been perfect so far this term, but they do look more than capable of avoiding relegation to the Championship. While that is a low bar to aspire to, that remains the number one priority on the blue half of Merseyside at this stage.
If relegation becomes a genuine possibility, maybe then the decision makers at Goodison Park will be forced into a change. Until then, however, it seems likely Dyche will see out his contract which expires at the end of the season.
