Everton want to sell first-team trio, 200+ app player among them - report

Everton are looking to sell Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and Neal Maupay before the August 30 transfer deadline, according to Harry Watkinson.

The TEAMtalk journalist posted via his personal X account on Thursday (1 August) that Everton are actively looking for buyers for the first-team trio.

None of the players are in a hurry to leave, but any further incoming activity at Goodison Park this summer could depend on their departures.

Everton not yet done with summer transfer business

Everton have been active so far in the transfer window, both in terms of incoming and outgoing activity, but focus now is more on the latter.

It is clear that Sean Dyche would like a couple more players through the Goodison Park door, but funds will likely have to be freed up first.

The arrival of Joe O’Brien has pushed Michael Keane further down the pecking order and an exit surely now makes sense.

Keane has made over 200 appearances for the Toffees, but his days appear to be numbered unless Jarrad Branthwaite is sold – and right now, that does not look likely.

Maupay’s future also looks to lie away from Merseyside after his season out on loan with Brentford in 2023-24.

As for Holgate, he is also back at Everton after a period away but is unlikely to feature much under Dyche going forward.

If the club can raise some reasonable funds for the trio, it makes sense to invest the cash back into the squad to bring in upgrades – even if only one player instead of three.

Kevin Thelwell is no doubt hard at work behind the scenes with around a month of the window still to go.
