Chris Jack shares if he has heard anything about Rangers & Damian Garcia after reports

Chris Jack has not heard anything surrounding a potential Rangers move for Penarol midfielder Damian Garcia this summer.

Speaking on The Rangers Review’s transfer latest, Jack said that Garcia is one of several potential transfer targets for the Gers this summer, but links closer to home are drying up.

He added that the only reports circulating for any move to Ibrox are coming from Garcia’s end in Uruguay, with noises increasing nearly every week.

Jack said: “I’ve not heard anything from this end over the last couple of weeks to really talk it up.

“There’s been a lot of noise from their end of it, a lot of reports (in Uruguay), as is the case when people know that Rangers are in the market.

“It becomes easy to link Rangers with a whole raft of potential signings, but the Garcia chat has all been coming from that end so I can’t really provide an update on how seriously Rangers were taking it.”

Rangers to seal Damian Garcia transfer?

Amidst a massive squad overhaul that is already well underway at Ibrox, Philippe Clement’s next major position to target is the centre of midfield.

Veterans Ryan Jack and John Lundstram will depart on free transfers, and with Clement keen to inject a youthful exuberance throughout his new-look squad, signing a highly-rated Uruguay youth international wouldn’t be the worst move [Fanatik].

The Belgian has turned his early transfer attention to the Americas, with mixed results – Brazilian left-back Jefte is already on board at Ibrox [Daily Record], with Chilean international Thomas Galdames potentially following suit after their pursuit of Jose Cordoba fell through [Gonzalo Conti].

Adding another South American to the mix in Garcia could be the start of Clement’s reshaping of Rangers’ midfield, but with reports on the wane, this transfer could be off the cards.

In other Rangers news, another free agent has admitted speculation is “going to happen” amid talk he could move to Ibrox.
