Chris Kamara in stitches as he jokes about Destiny Udogie exit at Tottenham

Chris Kamara left Jeff Stelling in hysterics with his joke about Destiny Udogie after Nottingham Forest’s winning goal against Tottenham on Boxing Day.

In a clip shared on X of Amazon Prime’s Premier League coverage from the City Ground on 26 December, Kamara reacted as Anthony Elanga breezed past Udogie to score.

Referencing the song ‘How Much Is That Doggie in the Window?’ to suggest a January exit for the Spurs left-back, Kamara had Stelling, Dion Dublin and Tim Sherwood laughing loudly in the studio.

Kamara said: “Udogie just let him (Elanga) run. Apparently, Jeff, they might sell Udogie in the window…”

“Oh goodness me, Kammy. How long have you been away, and that’s the best you could come up with?”, Stelling replied amid laughter in the studio.

“I’m afraid so Jeff”, Kamara said whilst trying to suppress his own laughter.

Tottenham will hope Destiny Udogie joke doesn’t become reality

While Kamara’s joke about Udogie was purely tongue-in-cheek, Spurs fans would be alarmed if the Italian was to be listed on the transfer market next month, especially given the circumstances.

Udogie is Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice left-back to such an extent that his closest competition, Sergio Reguilon, hasn’t made a start since 2022, well before the Australian took charge of Spurs.

Reguilon’s exit in January is widely expected and almost seen as inevitable [Mucho Deporte, 4 December], but amid a huge of defensive injuries, Udogie’s importance is only being underlined further.

The 22-year-old has started 17 of the Lilywhites’ 18 Premier League games so far this term, and with Ben Davies and Micky van de Ven still out injured, Postecoglou has few other options on the left.

Kamara’s return to the commentary box has been welcomed from all corners, and even a dejected Spurs fanbase will be able to see the humour regardless of their disappointing defeat on the banks of the Trent.

In other Tottenham news, Jason Cundy wondered if Ange Postecoglou will be given the time to finish his “project” in North London.
