Club now unlikely to sign Rangers player who won an award last season - report

Rangers striker Sam Lammers is now unlikely to secure a permanent transfer to AZ Alkmaar this summer, according to the Daily Record.

The news outlet reported that with the Dutch side closing in on a deal to sign Tottenham striker Troy Parrott, it all but ends their pursuit of the 27-year-old.

The 27-year-old impressed in the Eredivisie last season and even won April’s Player of the Month award for them.

Utrecht were no longer in the running to sign Lammers and it seemed like he was set to join AZ Alkmaar, but that move does not appear to be on the cards, as things stand.

Rangers finding it hard to part ways with Sam Lammers

Gers now need to consider alternative strategies to find a suitable market for Lammers.

One approach could be to explore loan deals with options or obligations to buy which would allow the 27-year-old to showcase his abilities in a different environment, potentially increasing his value and attracting more permanent suitors.

Another option could be to engage in negotiations with clubs that have shown previous interest in Lammers.

Rangers could offer incentives such as a lower initial fee with performance-based add-ons or a loan with a purchase option.

This could make the deal more appealing to potential buyers, especially if Lammers performs well.

While they should aim to recoup a reasonable amount for the player, being open to negotiations and considering offers that are close to their valuation could facilitate a quicker sale.

It’s clear that Philippe Clement sees no way back for him at the club so it makes sense to part ways as soon as possible.

In other Rangers news, a £2.5m bid is being readied with Gers now in advanced talks to secure yet another transfer.
