Club works on bureaucratic part to terminate Rangers player loan - report

Cruzeiro are already working on the “bureaucratic part” of returning Rangers loanee Jose Cifuentes to Scotland, according to Samuel Venacio.

The journalist reported on X (31 July) that the Ecuador international is likely headed toward a move to Aris Thessaloniki this summer.

This comes after it was also reported (31 July) that Aris and Cifuentes were in the final stages of a new agreement [Yellow Radio].

Rangers allow Jose Cifuentes to join Aris Thessaloniki

Cifuentes was one of many Michael Beale transfers that have failed to work out.

Whilst he played a regular role in the first team at the start of last season, he lost his place in the squad and was sent to Brazil to try and re-find his form.

Things started well with the player getting plenty of minutes under his belt but, much like with the Gers, as the season went on, Cifuetnes’ minutes decreased.

The loan move to Brazil was supposed to help the midfielder progress his game and if his future wasn’t set to lie with the Gers then perhaps he could’ve made some profit for the club after the £1.2 million they spent on him.

In a way, this has managed to work out as the deal with Aris is reported to be a loan-to-buy which could rake in the Gers a cool £4.2million altogether [The 4th Official, 26 July].

This not only shows why the deal makes sense for Philippe Clement’s side but also gives them some additional money to spend to improve their team.

In other Rangers news, the fee that the Gers could be spending on Robin Propper has been reported.
