Arsenal have got their Premier League campaign off to a flyer and will hope for similar joy on the transfer front this month.
With just 10 days left until the summer transfer window closes, the Gunners will likely be looking to add the finishing touches to their squad.
Arsenal have made one senior summer signing so far, bringing Riccardo Calafiori to the Emirates Stadium from Bologna.
There is currently another concrete lead involving the Gunners and a transfer target, and Fabrizio Romano has delivered a positive update on that front.

Arsenal ‘fully expected’ to sign Mikel Merino
Arsenal are currently pursuing Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino and, despite a recent hitch, things still seem to be on the right track.
The Basque club apparently rejected Arsenal’s offer of €30million (£25.6million) plus add-ons earlier this week.
However, the two clubs are reportedly still in talks, with Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay apparently flying to London to try and complete the move.
Now, Romano has told GiveMeSport that Arsenal fans shouldn’t be worrying, as Merino is now “fully expected” to move to N5 in the coming days.
“Merino just spoke the president of Real Sociedad confirming that Arsenal are in negotiation with Real Sociedad,” wrote Romano.
“He said, ‘as soon as the offer will be good, we will say yes’. But let me tell you again here, guys, don’t worry Arsenal fans, Merino is coming and is coming very soon.
“They are fixing the final details of the deal, but Mikel Merino is fully expected to become a new Arsenal player in the final 10 or 11 days of the summer transfer window.”

Arsenal set for ‘world-class’ new arrival
As one of the most trusted transfer journalists out there, Romano’s words will be music to the Gunners fanbase’s ears.
Everyone in the football world is aware just how “spectacular” and “world-class” Merino is, having helped Spain to Euro 2024 glory.
In terms of his style of play, The Guardian recently published an article describing Merino as the ‘type of midfielder Arteta would create in a lab if given the chance.’
Hopefully it won’t be long until Romano drops the all-important “here we go” and Gunners fans can start celebrating a player who could well be the missing piece at N5.
