'Completely broken': Romano has just dropped Osimhen update minutes before transfer deadline

Chelsea have been one one of the Premier League’s busiest teams on transfer deadline day, with business being conducted right until the final minutes.

For instance, the Blues have remained in pursuit of Napoli star Victor Osimhen, with plenty of speculation doing the rounds well into Friday night.

For instance, reports did the rounds claiming Napoli had agreed a £67million deal with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli and that Osimhen would be on his way.

However, Osimhen himself was thought to be waiting for Chelsea, with the Stamford Bridge side also apparently making one last push not so long ago.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to X with an update that pretty much ends any hopes Chelsea had of signing Osimhen.

Fabrizio Romano says Victor Osimhen to Chelsea now completely off

The transfer insider says Chelsea’s deal for the Nigeria international is now “completely off.”

Romano added: “No agreement with Chelsea and (the Blues’) delegation now leaving Napoli.

“If nothing happens from Saudi next 3 days, Osimhen will stay at Napoli but he’s not gonna be part of the first team squad.”

Romano concluded by saying the player’s relationship with Napoli is “currently completely broken.”

Chelsea miss out on Osimhen as Saudi Pro League his likeliest means of escape from Napoli

Osimhen has been a star for Napoli over the years, playing a big part in their heroic Serie A win in 2023.

However, it doesn’t look as though he has a future at the club any more, and if he stays, he won’t be playing, according to Romano.

At this moment in time, a move to the Saudi Pro League will be his likeliest means of escape from Napoli.

According to talkSPORT, the Saudi window set to slam shut on Monday 2 September, so he would still have the rest of the weekend to secure a move.
