Rangers Fan Advisory Board have issued a scathing statement after their meeting with the club’s CFO James Taylor on 5 November.
They claim that despite making repeated requests to the club, the minutes of that meeting have not been released.
This has been labelled as “completely unacceptable” behaviour and they have made their disappointment clear ahead of the club’s AGM on 5 December.
They took to X to write: “We are extremely disappointed that Minutes of a meeting with Rangers CFO James Taylor on Nov 5 have still not been made available by the club, despite our repeated requests.
“The purpose of the meeting was to raise issues around the club’s financial results and provide clarity and context to help inform fan analysis ahead of the AGM.
“Delays in publishing minutes to our meetings are completely unacceptable and we expect the club to move much more quickly in future to ensure appropriate fan insight.”
Rangers fans deserve more accountability from the board
It is encouraging to see the Fan Advisory Board publicly addressing the issue with the club’s management regarding the lack of transparency around the minutes from their meeting with Taylor.
The withholding of such crucial information, especially ahead of an AGM where financial discussions are pivotal, undermines the principles of openness and accountability that should govern clubs.
As stakeholders, supporters deserve access to these details as well to make informed decisions and analyses.
The board’s statement reflects the importance of maintaining a dialogue with fans, ensuring that their concerns are not only heard but acted upon promptly.
This kind of accountability is essential for fostering trust between the club and its supporters, ensuring that the club operates with integrity and in the best interests of the community with transparency in dealings.
