Contract update emerges as Everton eye deal to sign Leicester City star - report

Wilfred Ndidi has agreed to sign an extension at Leicester City and end speculation over a move to Everton, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

The news outlet reported on 27 June that there is no truth in claims that he is heading to Goodison Park.

The 27-year-old’s contract at the King Power Stadium will run out at the end of the month, but he has decided to commit his future to the club.

Sky Sports news editor Alan Myers also recently addressed reports linking the Nigeria international with a move to Merseyside.

While Ndidi has been decent for the Foxes, he’s had previous injury woes and playing in the Premier League may aggravate them once again.

Also, the club’s current midfield options, including Amadou Onana, James Garner, Idrissa Gueye and Abdoulaye Doucoure, offer a different skill set and experience that Ndidi might not match.

The Toffees’ focus on shrewd signings and maintaining financial stability aligns with their decision to not pursue Ndidi, who would’ve demanded a pay hike and a lofty signing on bonus.

While it’s important that Everton sign a midfielder this summer, they’ve got to ensure that whoever they bring in has a good track record with his fitness.

Sean Dyche will also have a few names in mind and it remains to be seen who ends up joining in the coming weeks.
