Dan Bardell: Player that Tottenham don't need would go straight into starting XI

Dan Bardell has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur do not need Eberechi Eze but he would be a starting option if they were to sign him.

FootballTransfers have reported (18 June) that Spurs are “scheduled to meet representatives” this week to discuss the potential signing.

This could see Ange Postecolgou break a club transfer record if they want the England international from Crystal Palace this summer.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell believes he may opt to stay put given the options that Tottenham already have available.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: “You would say Eze’s best position is as a number 10 but Tottenham have got Maddison there who they spent a lot of money on last summer albeit his form fell off towards the end of the season.

“I would say that Eze is ready for a move away from Crystal Palace but they do feel quite stable.

“Spurs had a great season finishing fifth but I just think the end of the season that Palace had under Glasner, they may be able to keep hold of their team this summer.

“I would argue that Tottenham and Eze aren’t a match but he’s such a good player that if he does join he would probably be straight into the starting XI.“

Tottenham interested in Eberechi Eze

After the collapse towards the latter end of the Premier League campaign, there is certainly a need for reinforcements this summer.

The addition of someone like Eze would certainly excite the Spurs faithful ahead of the new Premier League season.

The England international has plenty of ability on the ball which allows him to ghost past defenders like they aren’t even there.

He has performed excellently for Crystal Palace, especially alongside Michael Olise, forming a deadly partnership with the Frenchman.

There would be a large outlay involved in signing Eze but he could prove to be worth every penny if he finds a role in the squad quickly.
