Wenham wants Tottenham to sign ‘Exciting’ exit-linked Man City star this summer

John Wenham wants Tottenham to try and sign exit-linked Manchester City star Julian Alvarez.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose believes the club should be putting themselves forward to sign the 24-year-old.

As reported by The Athletic (11 June), Alvarez is open to a move away from the Etihad Stadium having been linked with several high-profile clubs around Europe.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – feels the forward would be a game-changing signing in North London.

“Tottenham should be putting themselves forward to sign Alvarez,” Wenham said.

“He’s a fantastic player, a World Cup winner, and can play anywhere across the frontline.

“He has got huge upsell value as he is young and will only improve with consistent minutes.

“I would love for Tottenham to throw their hat in the ring, he would be a very exciting signing.”

Signing Alvarez would not be easy at all.

Not only would the Argentinian be costly, but Tottenham would be competing with some of the biggest clubs in Europe for his signature.

For many supporters, they will simply scoff at the suggestion that the club could compete to sign this calibre of player.

However, that is a mentality which needs to change.

If Spurs want to move to the next level and compete for titles, they need to start using the cash generated in North London to try and sign high-profile players.

Making a move for Alvarez, even if they didn’t end up signing him, would be a start.
