Dan Friedkin signs Everton takeover paperwork, due diligence starts - report

Dan Friedkin has signed an exclusivity agreement for his takeover of Everton, according to the Financial Times.

The report goes on to state that due diligence has started following the eventual collapse of the 777 Partner deal.

Although this is good news for Toffees fans, someone with close knowledge of the situation has warned that the deal is far from done yet.

What could the future hold for Everton after the Friedkin group completes their takeover

As Everton fans will know, the Merseyside club were the first team last season to be deducted points thanks to their club breaching the Premier League’s financial rules.

The eventual deduction whittled down to eight points, however, thanks to some solid performances from Sean Dyche’s men, they managed to retain their Premier League status.

This summer, many clubs are under the watchful eye of PSR with teams needing player sales before 30 June to count for the 2023/24 accounting period.

Hence, why the Toffees believe that any quickfire sales of their players before this window [Daily Mail] could help the club with any future battles.

Both Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite have been subject to bids from other teams to entice the players away from the Merseyside club.

However, the latter of the two has featured in the speculation of the media more than the other and has even had a bid rejected from Manchester United already.
