Kris Boyd has likened Nedim Bajrami to Ryan Kent after his performance for Rangers against Malmo on 26 September.

Gers picked up a 2-0 win in the Europa League on their travels to Sweden with Bajrami scoring the opening goal.

The Albanian is a new signing at Ibrox, having arrived from Sassuolo on transfer deadline day.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun [27 September], Boyd, a Sky Sports pundit said:

“Nedim Bajrami specialises in early starts. He broke the Euros record in June when he scored for Albania against Italy in just 23 seconds.

“And on Thursday night he fired Rangers into the lead in Malmo after 56 seconds. He’s quickly finding a place in the hearts of Gers fans — at a time when they were desperate for a spark of fresh hope.

“Bajrami isn’t a natural winger, and looks as if he’d be more suited to a No 10 role. But the way he plays allows Jefte or Neraysho Kasanwirjo to get round him on that left-hand side.

“He creates space for teammates, and dare I say it, brings similar qualities that Ryan Kent had.

“Bajrami looks as though he can bring some much-needed positivity for the fans returning to Ibrox.”

Nedim Bajrami appears to be an important signing for Rangers

The Ibrox faithful will be thrilled with Bajrami’s rapid start at his new club, particularly following his swift goal against Malmo, which not only secured the victory but also injected a much-needed dose of optimism into the team.

His ability to score within seconds of kick-off mirrors his record-breaking effort at the Euros, showcasing his flair for the dramatic that endears him to supporters.

While not a natural winger, the Albanian’s versatility to operate in a number 10 position or support his teammates on the left flank adds a dynamic dimension to Rangers’ attack.

Philippe Clement can capitalise on this by integrating the 25-year-old as a pivotal figure in his squad, leveraging his creativity and pace to not only create chances but also to foster a sense of excitement among the fans, making him a crucial asset in both domestic and European campaigns.

Ryan Kent, while talented, had plenty of moments of inconsistency and everyone will hope that he only mirrors the good of the English winger and ensures that he does not one of the bad.
