'Depressing' - Journalist shares what didn't happen after email from Everton v West Ham

Matt Jones was left disappointed with Everton after Jordan Pickford had to bail them out in the 0-0 draw against West Ham United.

The Toffees travelled to the London Stadium in the Premier League on 9 November, and Jordan Pickford pulled off some brilliant late saves as the game ended goalless.

Speaking on The Blue Room Podcast [11 November], Jones shared the reality of the situation as he feels no one would’ve been interested in looking at the stats pack from the game.

“Jordan Pickford is brilliant, and he got Everton a point. But it’s just a bit grim when you see these stats about how good Pickford was and the defence.

“When you get the email of the stats pack saying here’s all the details from the weekend from a great point on the road, you’re not going to click and read something saying how we limited shots on target or the keeper made so many saves. It just feels a little bit depressing and down at the moment.”

Everton struggles continue under Sean Dyche

Sean Dyche brought some solidity to Everton when they were on the brink of relegation a few seasons back, but they haven’t made any progress since then.

The Toffees are once again struggling and hovering above the drop zone, which the Goodison faithful have grown used to at this point.

Supporters clearly have no interest in seeing their team in the position they are in, and it’s not surprising to see Dyche being questioned at the club.

Everton are sixteenth in the league table going into the November international break, and if things don’t turn around soon, the Toffees could soon find themselves at a high risk of dropping down to the Championship.

In the last few seasons, Pickford has come clutch in certain moments to keep the Blues’ hopes of staying in the Premier League alive.

It’s undoubtedly a concerning trend that the Merseysiders need to come up with a solution for soon if they want to preserve their status of staying in their English top flight.
