'Difficult to be sure' - The Esk moots timeframe for new Everton takeover update to emerge

There is a “decent chance” Everton supporters could receive an update on the takeover situation this week, according to The Esk.

The Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri is once again looking for new buyers following the collapse of 777 Partners’ takeover bid at Goodison Park, with a number of different parties understood to be in the race currently.

While George Downing and Andy Bell seem to be the current frontrunners [Matt Slater, 8 June], nothing has officially been announced by the club, but Toffees financial expert, The Esk, believes an update could well emerge in days.

Writing on X on Tuesday (11 June) he said: “I think there’s a decent chance this week – but it is so difficult to be sure with Moshiri.”

When will Everton complete takeover and be sold by Farhad Moshiri?

As The Esk suggests, you can never bank on Moshiri to be the most reliable of people in football. For months on end, 777 Partners were supposedly close to completing their acquisition but that still never came to fruition.

If there are as many potential buyers out there as have been reported in the last few days, there is absolutely no reason for the Toffees owner to decide before the end of the week, especially when option stands out among the rest.

Downing and Bell are supporters of the club and therefore are the best option for the Toffees. On top of that, they have the money to get this deal done quickly, which is necessary as the summer transfer window approaches.

Hopefully, The Esk’s limited confidence in Moshiri won’t have been misplaced and supporters will have a genuine update on the situation sooner rather than later. For too long, they have been left in the dark by the people at the top of the club.

That needs to change as quickly as possible and hopefully, progress will have been made when Sunday rolls around at Goodison.
