There will be concerns at Everton over the fitness of Florentino Luis ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the 24-year-old’s game time for Benfica, where he seldom plays the full 90 minutes, could raise a few red flags and he needs to be scouted thoroughly by the club before they go ahead with the deal.

This comes after Correio da Manha reported on 31 May that the Toffees had submitted a £25.5million bid for the Portuguese midfielder.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and Sports Scientist, said about Luis:

They’ll be looking at things like his measured physiological metrics, how he’s performing in training, and how he’s responding to the increase in intensity.

“There will be concerns about him not playing 90 minutes frequently and whether that could translate to him struggling with the demands in England.

Ideally, he will be scouted thoroughly and if he is a long-term target then the club will be aware of his fitness history.

Florentino Luis could be a decent acquisition for Everton

Luis could be a good signing for the Toffees due to his defensive prowess and potential to bring balance to the midfield.

At 24, he has already shown his ability to read the game well and he could be an ideal shield for the backline.

His signing could allow Everton to get the best out of Amadou Onana, who could be more effective in a more advanced role.

Amadou Onana featured for Everton at Arsenal on the final day of the Premier League season.

Luis’ passing ability suggests he can help the Toffees maintain possession and build attacks from the back.

In other Everton news, a £400m update has emerged on the Toffees takeover as Middle Eastern interest in the club revealed.
