Son Heung-min will need to pass a late fitness test for the Tottenham versus West Ham clash on 19 October at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the thigh injury that has sidelined the Spurs skipper does not appear to be serious.
And Dr Brar suggested that the South Korea forward playing the full 90 minutes against the Hammers will depend on how he trains in the build-up to the game.
Discussing the state of play with Son exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said: “Son has been ruled out with a thigh injury but it does not appear to be a serious one.
“It sounds like he should be back after the international break.
“Key indicator will be his availability and response to team training during the break.
“He will need to pass a late fitness test and his playing the full 90 minutes will depend on how he trains.“
Tottenham must not rush Son back into action
Spurs will be careful to not rush Son back given how important he is to Ange Postecoglou.
Even if he does not start the next two games and can only come off the bench, it makes sense rather than gambling on a start right away.
The South Korea international is 32 now and so Spurs need to carefully manage his return to fitness so as not to risk a recurrence.
In other Tottenham news, a first-team player has let Ange Postecoglou down recently and needs to up his game.
