Mees Hilgers’ lack of 90 minutes consistently for FC Twente puts him at a higher risk of injury if he joins Rangers, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.
The injury expert claims that the Scottish club will be looking for yellow flags for overload as he will be moving to a league with a quicker and more physical brand of football.
It’s understood that Gers will have to shell out a premium fee to sign the 23-year-old [Rangers Review, 30 June] but are still to make an official approach for the Dutchman. [Football Scotland, 1 July]
Discussing his situation exclusively with Ibrox News, Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:
“Hilgers’ game time at Twente has been erratic so he’s at a higher risk of injury than someone playing regularly.
“This is also considered when players are moving to different clubs.
“Rangers should look out for any yellow flags for overload considering his erratic game time and moving to a higher intensity league.“
Mees Hilgers could be a decent signing for Rangers
Hilgers could be a good signing for the Ibrox outfit due to his impressive performances in the Eredivisie, contributing to FC Twente’s success.
At 23, he’s young but experienced and seems capable enough to replace Connor Goldson.
His versatility in playing both right and left sides strengthens Gers’ backline, providing depth and a solid defensive option.
In other Rangers news, an Ibrox-linked player has been punished by his club as Gers have made inroads towards securing his transfer.
