'Easier' - Doctor issues verdict as Tottenham want to sign highly-rated Italian sensation

Tottenham should have no worries if they are to secure the services of Fiorentina goalkeeper Tommaso Martinelli, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that as the 18-year-old is a keeper, his adaptation will not be as long as an outfielder’s and he would likely look to first become a regular for the under-21s.

This comes after Paul O Keefe, an agent who’s got close ties to Spurs, claimed on 20 August that the Italian was being looked at as Spurs want to sign a keeper before the window shuts.

Discussing the state of play with Martinelli exclusively with Tottenham News, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, said:

“Fitness wise, keeper adaptation will always be easier than an outfielder due to fewer demands.

“The key focus here for me would be adapting him mentally, specifically to the new club, environment, and location.

“He’ll probably look to become a regular for the under-21s before so as to get accustomed to the English but having assessed his fitness record, Spurs should have no worries signing him.“

Martinelli, at just 18 years old, represents a blend of raw talent and potential that could significantly benefit Tottenham and their youth setup.

His early call-up to the Italian national team setup by Roberto Mancini underscores his exceptional promise, highlighting his agility and commanding presence in goal despite his youth.

The Guardian reported in late 2023 that the teenager is highly-rated and even PSG wanted to secure his services.

Standing at 1.93m, Martinelli not only fills the goal well but also exhibits impressive shot-stopping abilities, crucial for Premier League challenges.
