Everton have considered a double deal to sign Hull City stars Jaden Philogene and Jacob Greaves this summer, according to Alan Nixon.

The journalist reported via X on Sunday (7 July) that the Toffees are one of the teams who have “looked” at completing a move which would see both the winger and centre-back make the move to Goodison Park.

Sean Dyche’s side aren’t alone in eyeing a potential double swoop, with reports suggesting Ipswich Town are locked in talks with Hull to try and bring the pair to Portman Road having won promotion to the Premier League [Hull Live, 7 July].

Replying to a supporter on X who asked: “Is there any connection between Philogene and Everton?” Nixon replied: “Everton have looked at this double deal doing the rounds.”

Are Everton close to any new signings in the summer transfer window?

On the face of it, this double deal for both Greaves and Philogene makes perfect sense for the Toffees as it would not only see Dyche add some genuine quality in the wide areas but also add some depth to the backline.

James Tarkowski and Jarrad Branthwaite will continue to be the Blues’ primary defensive partnership this summer unless something changes between now and the end of the transfer window, but they need some support.

Greaves may not have proven himself outside of the Championship yet, but the defender has shown during his time in the second tier that he has the skill set to be a more than able Premier League defender.

Any deal which sees him and Philogene make the move to Merseyside isn’t going to come cheap, but with the pair, Everton would be signing two players who could be in their starting XI for years to come.

Hopefully, the Toffees will find a way to get this double deal over the line ahead of their Premier League rivals as it would represent incredibly sensible business at this stage of the transfer window.

In other Everton news, the Toffees could be set to command a fee of £100million for Jarrad Branthwaite next summer
