Everton send 'letter of interest' to request footage of teen defender they want to sign - report

Everton have made an approach to Turkish club Gençlerbirliği to request footage of defender Yasin Arda Midiliç, according to Sporanki.

The Turkish outlet reported on 17 July that the Toffees are interested in the 17-year-old and have sent “a letter of interest”.

Everton are said to be “evaluating” the young defender’s situation after requesting images of the defender.

The Turkish starlet has featured for the Gençlerbirliği U17s and U19s and could move to Goodison Park with just a training fee being involved.

It is great to see that the Toffees are looking to change their tactical approach in the transfer market by bringing in young players for cheap fees.

This has not been done effectively in recent years and has left them short of academy options in their squad throughout the years.

There is plenty of proof that this strategy can work with Jarrad Branthwaite being a key example after signing from Carlisle United in 2020.

With these sorts of signings, there is no guarantee that they become a success but would only represent a small loss if things don’t go to plan.

Midiliç would move to Goodison Park for a reduced fee, likely to be just a training or compensation fee to Gençlerbirliği.

The 17-year-old certainly has plenty of room to grow and could prove to be a useful addition to the youth setup at Finch Farm for years to come.
