Everton fans’ “distaste” for Sean Dyche and his predecessors down the year’s isn’t justified, Simon Jordan has said .

Speaking on talkSPORT (28 November, 10:28), Jordan acknowledged that while Toffees fans want to aim higher than where they currently are, that doesn’t mean Dyche hasn’t done a good job at Goodison Park.

After a caller rang up saying the top job at Goodison has proven to be a poisoned chalice for both Dyche and former boss Frank Lampard, Jordan argued that doesn’t have to be the case.

He said: “I disagree with the caller about Sean Dyche.

“Maybe it’s run its course now because people want to see Everton do better – they aren’t going to do better until they get some money into the football club.

“I watched lots of Everton managers come and go, and it would appear to me that there was this propensity for Everton fans to have a distaste towards their manager.

“Everton aren’t particularly successful right now, so no manager’s going to be popular.”

Sean Dyche future at Everton still shrouded in uncertainty

Toffees fans who want their club to aim high rather than low once again could soon be on the cusp of getting their wish, as Dan Friedkin’s takeover looms with a mid-December completion date expected.

That represents the starting point of a new era on Merseyside, with the club’s stadium move to Bramley-Moore Dock being a bigger beacon of hope than any manager or new signing could ever hope to be.

The move to Liverpool’s waterfront in the summer of also coincides with the end of Dyche’s contract, but uncertainty continues to linger over whether the 53-year-old will see out his current deal.

Dyche’s side’s form this season has blown hot and cold, and they sit just three places above the relegation zone on 11 points with many ready for a change in the dugout once Friedkin takes charge.

It remains to be seen how long Dyche is given to turn things around under the Blues’ new ownership, but with possible replacements already mooted [TBR Football, 12 October], he could be on borrowed time almost straight away.

In other Everton news, Toffees supporters are set to join Manchester United fans in a protest ahead of their upcoming match.
