James Garner’s latest injury is different to the previous back issue the Everton midfielder sustained, according to Sean Dyche.

The 23-year-old missed the Toffees’ win over Ipswich Town and is expected to be ruled out of the showdown with Fulham at Goodison Park on Saturday (26 October).

While the nature of the injury is different to the former Manchester United man’s past issues, Dyche has suggested the midfielder is set to undergo a review in the coming days to determine what the best treatment method is.

As quoted by the Liverpool Echo on Saturday (26 October) he said: “It is a different thing. I don’t know the exact science of it but I think it is just more wear and tear.

“We are just getting a view on it now to see how quickly it is going to settle down. It has been an initial two weeks or so from when he first felt it and we should get a review over the next few days on which way we should treat it.”

What has happened to Everton midfielder James Garner at Goodison Park?

It seems as though Everton supporters shouldn’t be expecting to see Garner back in action anytime soon at Goodison Park.

While the midfielder’s latest back issue appears to have settled down slightly, the fact that no exact treatment has yet been decided on would suggest that he is a way away from getting back on the pitch at this stage.

Although the 23-year-old’s absence is a blow to the Toffees, given his versatility and adaptability, it has come at a good time with both Nathan Patterson and Seamus Coleman back involved with the first team after their own injury issues.

Without the returning pair, Dyche would have been down to his bare bones in defence and would have had to rely on Ashley Young week in and week out. While the veteran has impressed this term, he is no longer capable of playing every minute of every game.

Hopefully, the route cause of Garner’s knock is discovered sooner rather than later so that he can get back involved in first-team proceedings on Merseyside. It would be excellent if he were to return before the November international break.
