Orel Mangala is expected to undergo his medical with Everton on Wednesday, according to Florian Plettenberg.
The Sky Sports journalist reported on 27 August that a verbal agreement has been reached with Lyon over the Belgium international.
The 26-year-old will join the Toffees on an initial loan with an option to buy for £33.7million at the end of the season.
The former Nottingham Forest man is now set to have his medical on Wednesday (28 August) ahead of a move to Goodison Park.
Orel Mangala set for Everton medical
Sean Dyche looks set to be bringing some midfield solidity into his side after a disappointing opening two games to the Premier League season.
Despite being solid at the back last campaign, seven goals conceded already have put a dampener on the opening weeks.
This has been down to multiple factors with the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite being missing through injury as one of those.
Another has been a lack of defensive output from the midfield with Idrissa Geuye being the only true DM in Dyche’s squad.
Adding the physicality of Mangala to his squad for the season could prove to be a positive option as the season continues.
After an up-and-down spell with Nottingham Forest, there is no guarantee that the Belgian will succeed at Goodison but on loan, there is less risk involved.
It is safe to say that paying over £30m for the midfielder could be an overspend but his initial temporary deal could be useful.
