'Everything has a price' - Daniel Levy ownership claim made after latest takeover development

Daniel Levy’s attempts to find extra investment in Tottenham is not a strategic move to plan his own Spurs exit – but “everything has a price”, Paul Robinson has said

According to Football.London [18 June], sources within the club have shot down the rumours that Spurs were in investment talks with MSP Sports Capital, having been linked with a 40 per cent minority stake.

While some have predicted that MSP’s potential stake could have risen above the 50 per cent mark, Robinson believes there is little suggestion that Levy is looking for a Spurs exit, but rather looking to strengthen the club economically and financially.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, he said: “Daniel Levy has always been looking for investment to strengthen the club, to strengthen the business, with the club’s best interests at heart. With the way that the club has grown off the field, the only thing that has dragged behind is the team on the pitch.

“We go on about the state-of-the-art training ground – the best training ground in the world – the best stadium in the world, the potential NFL training ground, the potential links with the NFL, having the best stadium in the world for concerts, the go-kart track, so the structure of the club is very, very sound.

“Any more investment that comes into that, because I suspect Tottenham are an attractive proposition, I don’t think will be a cheap thing and it won’t be done without great thought or in-depth due diligence. That type of investment is only going to be a good thing for the club.

“I don’t suspect that Levy is in the business of being a strategist and carving out his own exit out of the club, but everything has a price.”

While Levy is not a favourite figure at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, no fans can deny that he runs the club with extreme precision when it comes to the business side of football.

The current owner is very careful with his money, with Tottenham not known for splashing the cash on many aspects of the club, most of all the manager’s squad.

However, with more investment that could certainly change, and it may have to change if Spurs want to continue to challenge for top-four in the Premier League and compete in the Champions League.
