Player at risk of missing Rangers pre-season despite four-year contract agreement - report

Hamza Igamane is at risk of missing the pre-season at Rangers if he does end up moving to Ibrox this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper reported on 21 June that while the 21-year-old AS FAR striker has agreed a four-year contract with the Glasgow club, the Olympics could prove to derail when he joins his new teammates for training.

He’s been a regular for the Moroccan under-23 side and if he’s picked for the Olympics, he will not be able to join the pre-season campaign.

Adapting to life in Scotland and the physical Scottish Premiership will also pose challenges for the 21-year-old striker, who has never played outside of his native Morocco.

The transition to a new country, culture and league can be difficult and time-consuming, potentially affecting his performance on the pitch.

Pre-season training offers numerous benefits, such as building fitness and strength, developing an understanding of teammates’ playing styles and familiarising oneself with the club’s tactics and facilities.

Missing out on this period could leave Igamane at a disadvantage compared to his teammates, potentially delaying his adaptation to life at Rangers.

It also remains to be seen if Philippe Clement sees him as a first-team regular because this is not a name that excites fans and arguably does not strengthen the playing eleven.

Hopefully, the marquee signings are made on the other side of Euro 2024 as Gers really need to strengthen their team.
