Ex-Everton employee speculates US billionaire could now fund takeover after 'Ridiculous' twist

Bryan King has suggested that Andy Bell and George Downing could now look to complete an Everton takeover with the backing of Michael Dell.

The ex-Everton scout has labelled the latest takeover twist at Goodison Park as “ridiculous”.

It comes as the club confirmed via their official website on Friday (19 July) that the Friedkin’s Group’s proposed takeover of the Toffees had collapsed.

And King – who exclusively told Goodison News on 7 July that the Friedkin Group’s takeover had hit a “stumbling block” due to the money that was owed to 777 Partners – has suggested what could be next.

“Well, this is becoming a ridiculous situation,” King said.

“If deals are being done and clubs are being bought, and another deal with Everton has now broken down, then negotiations need to be hurried up.

“I wonder if this will open the door for Andy Bell and George Downing now?

“Michael Dell was going to help fund that move previously. Will they therefore now come back into the picture here? Because they thought they had the deal. Let’s hope they make a move.

“I said Friedkin wasn’t happy about repaying that money to 777 Partners. It just seems to me that the whole takeover saga is being poorly handled on both sides here.

“I think Bell and Downing, who were close to it before, will make a move. I thought that would have been the best deal anyway.”

Andy Bell and George Downing to attempt Everton takeover at Goodison Park?

As the old saying goes, the third time is a charm.

Everton have seen two proposed takeover deals collapse at Goodison Park. The Toffees cannot therefore not afford for a third one to fall apart.

Whoever they enter into exclusivity talks with next must become the new Everton owners.

And if that is to be Bell and Downing, backed by Dell, then that could at least offer a slight silver lining on what is a very grey cloud currently hanging over the club.

The two businessmen are local supporters of the Toffees, and they will therefore know more than any other prospective owners out there what it means to be an Evertonian.

Farhad Moshiri must once again pinpoint new prospective owners at Everton

There were plenty of emerging prospective owners before exclusivity talks began with the Friedkin Group. Now it is time for Farhad Moshiri and Blue Heaven Holdings to nail one of them down.

In other Everton news, Manchester United have submitted a bid in an attempt to hijack Aston Villa’s move for Amadou Onana.
