Keith Hackett has questioned if Willie Collum could be handing out more suspensions as drama continued in Scotland after the Rangers saga at Hampden Park.
Motherwell’s Dan Casey was sent off against Kilmarnock on 20 December for an alleged throat grab, with Chris Graham sticking with his decision despite VAR David Dickinson suggesting a review of a shirt tug.
Hackett could not believe the decision, admitting it wasn’t violent conduct with another poor call the last thing that Collum and Martin Atkinson needed at the Scottish FA after admitting they were wrong not to hand Rangers a penalty against Celtic, leading to suspensions.
“Oh dear, what is going on in Scotland,” the ex-FIFA referee exclusively told Ibrox News.
“The last thing Willie Collum Head of Referees and Martin Atkinson knew Head of VAR would want is another huge error.
“The player is not guilty of Violent Conduct.
Willie Collum to hand out more SFA suspensions?
“It is difficult to understand why with the addition of VAR the Referee and VAR can get this so wrong.
“I am sure that the Red Card will be appealed.
“Will Collum as per last week suspend the two officials involved in this poor piece of officiating?”
After the footage and audio of the VAR officials rushing to make the wrong call at Hampden Park was released, at least Dickinson suggested a review of this incident.
Officiating in Scotland has never been great, but this is an all-time low for someone like Graham to not only make the decision to send Casey off, but to stick with it after seeing the footage.
Something needs to change.
