Ex-PL CEO: Ten Hag will be sacked by Man United

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Erik ten Hag is set to be sacked at Man United despite winning the FA Cup.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – insisted the 54-year-old is “not the right fit” for the Red Devils.

It has been widely reported that United chiefs and the new-look INEOS team have held a thorough internal review in recent days as they make a final decision on the future of Ten Hag.

The Dutchman delivered the FA Cup with a sensational final win over Man City last month, the day after leaks emerged claiming he will be sacked at the end of this season.

Despite winning yet more silverware, Ten Hag’s side limped to an eighth-place finish – their worst season in Premier League history.

He is under contract at Old Trafford until 2025 after arriving from Ajax in 2022.

Wyness suggested he feels Man United will “make a change” at the top this summer.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “It’s been reported that this week will be the review, looking back at the past season.

“I still feel Ten Hag will be sacked. I don’t think the season was strong enough overall.

“Winning a cup has given him a chance of staying on, I understand that – but the whole campaign was very disappointing.

“In his defence, he had some huge distractions and I do feel sorry for him on that front – but he’s not the right fit for Man United.

“I don’t think he’s the right manager, so I feel they will be making a change – just adding to the merry-go-round we’re seeing at Man United.”
