John Fleck has returned to Rangers to train at Auchenhowie after his release from Blackburn Rovers, according to the Daily Record.

The paper reported via its online edition on Sunday (July 28) that the 32-year-old is working on his fitness while deciding his next move after an injury-hit season.

Fleck, a former Rangers prodigy, spent five years at Ibrox and once commanded a high valuation with impressive performances at Sheffield United.

Now a free agent, he’s looking at offers from various clubs while training with the Light Blues.

Could Rangers bring John Fleck back?

Rangers need to strengthen their midfield, and Fleck would be an interesting proposition. With Ryan Jack and John Lundstram gone and Nico Raskin injured, there’s a clear gap that needs to be filled.

And, Fleck with his extensive experience and history with the club, could be the answer.

As a teenager, Fleck helped the Gers win the Scottish Cup and three Premiership titles. He’s shown his talent at Coventry, Blackpool, Sheffield United, and Blackburn.

Despite recent injuries, his skill and knowledge of the game remain invaluable.

While the Light Blues are eyeing players like Joan Jordan and Kenny McLean [El Mira, July 25], they shouldn’t overlook Fleck. He knows the club inside out and can bring leadership to the midfield. His familiarity with Rangers and his experience in top leagues also make a case for him.

Rangers need midfield strength, and Fleck’s return would be intriguing, especially if he can avoid injuries.

However, while the 32-year-old understands what it means to wear the blue jersey, his age and injury-prone body might only add more trouble to the Gers’ squad.

The ball is in Philippe Clement’s court.

In other Rangers news, six players have been named when it comes to who could be the next to leave Ibrox after Lammers.
